[Workshop] "Journey to International Conferences”

The Center for Tourism Research (CTR), Wakayama University holds various events such as seminars and workshops to support early career researchers.
In this workshop, CTR researchers will discuss various aspects of attending international conferences, based on their past experiences, such as how to choose an international conference, skills for presentation, and how to respond to questions and answers. Also, there will be an open discussion to answer any questions or concerns the participants might have about attending an international conference.

● Dr. Mohamed Elbarbary (Lecturer, Center for Tourism Research, Wakayama University, Japan)
Mohamed Elbarbary is a Center for Tourism Research (CTR) lecturer. He received a master’s degree in Tourism Guidance from Fayoum University in Egypt in 2016 and a PhD in World Cultural Heritage Studies from the University of Tsukuba, Japan, in 2022. Then, he acted as a researcher at the Faculty of Art and Design at Tsukuba, where he led a research project in collaboration with researchers from Hamburg University. Dr. Mohamed adopts a multidisciplinary research approach that covers different research areas (e.g., cultural heritage studies, tourism studies, human geography, and linguistic landscapes) and participated in several international conferences.
● Dr. Ryutaro Yamakita (Assistant Professor, Center for Tourism Research, Wakayama University, Japan)
Ryutaro Yamakita is an Assistant Professor at the Center for Tourism Research, Wakayama University, Japan. He obtained his PhD in Human Kinetics (Sport Management) from the University of Ottawa in 2024. With expertise in event management and organizational theory, his current research focuses on why and how recurring events die, revive, and/or survive.
