The Asia Pacific Tourism Association Annual Conference (APTA 2025) was held from July 7th to 9th in Busan, Korea.
From Wakayama University, CTR researchers, Professor Kaede Sano and Dr. Mohamed Elbarbary, participated in this conference.
Professor Sano presented on whether a destination marketing/management organization (DMO) or a destination mascot provides a more effective tone of voice for destination social media marketing, with the aim of influencing tourists' decision-making processes. Dr. Elbarbary presented his research on how community engagement bridged by international and local NGOs can facilitate sustainable conservation planning for living cultural heritage, with a focus on Historic Cairo, Egypt.
And CTR Visiting Junior Fellow, Mr. Masanao Tachibana (Graduate School of Tourism, Wakayama University) also presented his research about Saka Tourism.

CTR has been a sponsor for the APTA Annual Conference since 2015. A desk for sponsors was set up, and CTR researchers actively promoted CTR during the conference. In addition, the Wakayama University organization logo appeared on banners and pamphlets, providing an opportunity for many researchers to recognize CTR, and we will continue to contribute to the development of tourism research.
