The Center for Tourism Research (CTR), Wakayama University holds various events such as seminars and workshops to support students and early-career researchers.
Dr. Mohamed Elbarbary, a lecturer at CTR will provide this seminar to students and early-career researchers, training them on how to establish theoretical foundations, conduct literature analysis, and formulate hypotheses. He also will provide practical training and guidance.

CTR seminar “Conducting Interdisciplinary Research: Potentials and Challenges”
Overview
This seminar invites fourth-year undergraduate students, master’s students, and early-career researchers interested in developing and structuring robust interdisciplinary research.
In the first part, reflecting on the presenter’s previous research projects, participants will learn how to establish a solid theoretical foundation for interdisciplinary research, conduct in-depth literature analysis, and formulate research hypotheses.
The second part offers practical training and guidance on outlining research proposals, along with opportunities for participants to discuss their ideas and receive feedback. Training handouts will be provided in the venue.
By bridging theory and practice, the seminar encourages participants to apply creative and analytical techniques that enhance their overall research skills.

Dr. Mohamed Elbarbary (Lecturer, Center for Tourism Research, Wakayama University, Japan)
Dr. Mohamed (Mido) ELBARBARY is a lecturer at the Center for Tourism Research, Wakayama University. In 2022, he received a PhD in World Cultural Heritage Studies from the University of Tsukuba, Japan. His research interests cover tourism studies, cultural heritage, human geography, and linguistic landscape. Adopting a mixed-methods approach, he conducted several interdisciplinary research which have been published in international peer-reviewed journals.
