Mission Statement
The mission of the Graduate School of Tourism doctoral program is to equip students with the ability to play an active role as a leader in a diverse society, by establishing tourism studies in Japan and advancing and internationalizing tourism education and research.
Diploma Policy
In accordance with the purpose and mission of Wakayama University and the policy for awarding doctoral degrees, the Degree of Doctor of Tourism is granted to those who are deemed to have achieved the following goals via specialized education provided by the Graduate School of Tourism doctoral program according to the Mission Statement of Wakayama University and the policy on granting doctorates for the graduate school doctoral program.
- Advanced specialized knowledge, comprehensive problem-solving ability, and the ability to contribute to the establishment and development of the interdisciplinary field of tourism
- The ability to conduct academic and research activity in tourism with a high level of ethics and develop a high level of a doctoral thesis from the perspectives of its theme, composition, originality, level of achievement, and level of contribution to the field
